$15,200 In Facebook Marketplace Finds Across The USA! (Just 5 Items!)
Rob: So welcome. For the next couple episodes, we wanna do something a little bit different, a little bit special. We are traveling the country right now, finding some cool stuff, seeing some really cool stuff, and we wanna pull you guys along for that experience. So we'll be doing small snippets of the trip where we're talking about what we're buying, what we're finding, what we're seeing, and we're gonna actually throw it in so you guys can follow along with us, see some of the cool stuff that we're actually doing.
And yeah, anything to add?
Melissa: No, the goal is to go up the East Coast, across the top of the US, and to see some amazing sights and fill our trailer along the way. Our- we normally, you know, average around $20,000 of inventory on these trips, so that's kind of our benchmark goal, and we'll see what we come back with when we're done.
Rob: What's up, guys? Welcome. We are in our trailer right now doing a quick recap of the last week. It has been a busy, fun week that we've had traveling around the country.
Melissa: It, it feels like more than a week. We've done a lot of stuff. We've seen a lot of things. We've stopped and picked up several items, and we were, have been able to see a lot of different sights along the East Coast, which has been really cool, so.
Rob: It's been amazing. We still have the kids, and we still have my sister and her boyfriend with us, which is amazing. Nobody has tapped out yet. Nobody has got kicked out yet. It's still been a lot of fun, so but we have the best part is we found some really, really cool finds around the country. Wanted to show you a couple of them real quick.
You can't really see really well, but we-
Melissa: 'Cause they're wrapped up, but we'll talk about them. We got two more, so we're a weekend, we've got five items plus a mystery item that we'll talk about in yep ... a future video. But five main Facebook Mar- all f- no, four from Marketplace and one from. One from the thrift store.
The thrift store. Yeah. We talked about the first three, so we're gonna talk about the second two that we just picked up the other day. That's it ... yesterday.
Rob: So this one that you can see behind us is the biggest so far. It is a 60-inch range, and we paid a lot more for it than we typically do, but the upswing on it is a lot bigger than a lot of people can get.
So, we paid $1,000 for this range, a 60-inch range, and we should be able to sell it for, between $8,000 and $10,000. I think we'll be able to get $10,000 for this range, and we won't have a lot of competition with it. So it is a killer, killer find, a great deal. Very, very excited about that one that we picked up last night.
Melissa: That was not an easy one to get.
Rob: It was not because it's so big, and I think the weight on it is... We didn't use any machines. We only used dollies to get it in. But we, we, yeah, we didn't have to use any machines to get it.
Melissa: We had plywood, finagling down the ramps, down the stair. Oh, just one stair, like, for the porch and then for the other stair, and then it was, it was fun.
But-
Rob: I was hoping it was just in a garage. We backed the trailer up. We pushed it up inside of it, and it was okay. Yeah. But it was not that easy, so it took a little bit of finagling to get it in here.
But it's a nice, nice, uh, a nice unit, so.
Yeah.
Melissa: And it should sell. You don't have a lot of work to do with, with it at all.
It's just moving it around.
Rob: It is. It's just cleaning it up, moving it and then.
Melissa: It doesn't even need much cleaning. It looked really nice.
Rob: It'll- yeah, definitely is a nice one. So that one is going to be our sweet payday, one of the biggest ones so far on the trip, that'll make us the most money, and then one you can't see right behind me, if you see this blue right here.
Melissa: We'll do another recap video where you can actually see everything.
But right now it's still, everything's, yeah ... trying to load it in the trailer, and you had to unload everything to get the big one in.
Rob: We did. So.
Melissa: And sorry for the other noise. We're right next to a highway, so you know, we just do, do with what we have.
Rob: That's it. So the one right here behind me is actually a trash compactor, so I picked that one up for 100 bucks, tried to talk him down.
He didn't want to go down. We should be able to make, I'm gonna say between $1,000 and $1,500 on it. It's a good brand, so we should be able to make some good money on that. It looks like brand new. The guy said he only used it less than the amount of fingers on his hands. So it's still in really, really good condition.
Excited about that one as well. Do a quick recap how much money we've spent so far. Want to do that?
Yeah. So.
How much money we've-
Melissa: Do the numbers starting from one through five real quick.
Rob: The first- All right. So the first one that we bought, we paid $100 for. It will sell for roughly $3,000 conservatively.
Second one that we bought was the heater.
The second one's a heater.
Heater one, you can't see that. It's all the way in the back, back there. But that- That's the garbage ... that was number two, paid $100 for that. That will sell for between $1,000 and $1,500. Flip number three, which one was that? This was sewing machine right behind me, still in here
Melissa: another thrift store find.
Rob: You can see that one right here. Thrift store find, paid 50 bucks for that, will sell for $200. Featherweight, sewing machine on that one. Flip number four?
Melissa: That would be the, this one right here.
Rob: The four is the trash compactor. Paid $100 for that, and flip right around $1,000 to $1,500.
And then flip number five, which was the big one. We paid $1,000. So we have a total of $1,350 invested, and on conservatively, estimates, $10,000, $1,000, $1,000, $3,000, we're at $15,200, in profit that we should make on this after the $1,350 investment, so.
Melissa: Which fits our 10X model, which is our goal to have enough profit in it so that it makes it worth our time.
Yeah. Like, the time invested to clean it, the time it takes to pallet it, so that our time is well paid. It, 10X is our goal for the items that we're looking for, so. Yeah.
Rob: And you can see the majority of these we paid $100 for, which was crazy. They,
Melissa: we got- Yeah, $1,000 is a lot. We won't normally pay that.
That's a, that... Unless you know that it's gonna make at least $10,000- Yeah ... we're not gonna invest $1,000 typically.
Rob: No, it is a lot to invest, but on this one, we knew that, well, the, the money is there, and it will not sit for very long either. It will sell fairly quickly, which is what we like. So yeah, that's kind of it.
Melissa: Listed on the road, we will. We'll see. We went from extreme heat to now today it's cold and rain. And rain, yeah. It's so crazy. Crazy, but at least I'm thankful that it's not so hot out.
Rob: Yeah.
Melissa: So we'll see what else we can find to fill the trailer.
Rob: That's it.
Melissa: And keep going.
Rob: These are all of our resales.
We actually got some cool stuff as well that we will not be reselling. My sister got some, some cool stuff as well- Some goodies ... from Maine, that she's using for decorations at her condo. But we had a blast. It's been so much fun so far. I think tomorrow on the agenda is Niagara Falls?
Melissa: Think so.
Rob: Hitting Niagara Falls from the Canada side to see the US side. Excited about that. Everybody's just having fun. It's a lot of fun, and we're making money while we're doing it, so what other, what better way to travel the US than make money and have fun while we're doing it? So.
Melissa: Thanks for following along, and we'll let you know what else we find.
Rob: You guys are amazing. Have an amazing day, and we'll talk to you soon.
Melissa: Bye! See ya!
