Reseller Hangout Podcast – How We Turned $110 Into $7,990 In July On Ebay

Rob: What up guys, July's numbers are in. And we were able to create almost $8,000 in sales off of $110 of inventory.

Melissa: And we were even on the road most of the time.

Rob: So guys, we are back from the road trip, and these are the sales that happened while we were on the road trip. So, and it actually is over $16,000 total in sales, but one of those sales alone, was not ours. I actually sold an ice maker for a buddy, which turned out to be like, what?

82? 82, $8,250?

Yeah, $8,250 for the sale of his ice maker and bin, which we combined with our sales, but our total sales were almost $8,000 it was $7,990. And we created that solely from $110 invested.

Melissa: Only $110 out of pocket. So these were items. It is, this could end up being a shorter one, cuz they're all very similar.

Rob: They are.

Melissa: But, these are all items you got a little while ago.

Rob: Yep.

So there are a couple downfalls to, well, not downfalls, but there are a couple caveats to these sales that we did. And we can talk about those first, if you want. We've sat on these. These were all this last month were all breaker panel sales.

So breaker panel, meter meters, I think it was 11 total sales. And we sat on these for over two years, now, because of all the stuff that had happened in the last two years with COVID crazy stuff, manufacturing, plants, and all that kind of stuff, they quit producing for a timeframe and that's what happened to these.

So we've had these.

Melissa: They're all backed up.

Rob: We've had these suckers listed for the last two years. And they finally started hitting because nobody can find 'em anywhere else. People are searching on Google for this exact model. And we had multiples of each, and we still have a couple left, but, I think when we bought these, we bought like 40 of them total.

Melissa: We bought 40 and I remember the video, cuz you said, Melissa's not gonna be happy that I just came home with 40 of these.

Rob: It was a whole trailer full of them.

Melissa: But I'm happy with the profits.

Rob: Absolutely.

Melissa: When they sell.

Rob: So that's a caveat. We actually had them in the warehouse for probably two years.

They fit on one pallet. I had 'em in the corner, not a big deal. I knew the money that I had invested $10 a piece on these bad boys. Was nothing compared to what they were worth. So yeah, we are very, very excited about that, but we did sit on 'em for a while and I was okay with that because I knew the profit was there when they finally hit.

Melissa: Even when we first left, you had somebody reach out and wanted one.

It was like the first couple days we were on the road and he's like, can you ship it out? Tomorrow. And you're like, I can't, we're you know, on the road for a couple weeks so I can ship it out as soon as I get back or I can refund your money. He's like, is there any way, and then he offered you more money, right?

Rob: He was trying to pay me an extra $200 to get it shipped out sooner because he needed it for his project. So, which I still told him, I don't have anybody that I can have do that. So I'm so sorry I had to refund his money. And then towards the end of our trip, they started selling like hot cakes which was awesome. So we came back to 11 sales. Actually, sorry, 11 of them sold, but some people bought so six transactions. One person bought four, one person bought two, a couple people bought one in six transactions to create that almost $8,000 in sales.

Melissa: So, yeah, so it was a total of like, we could.

It doesn't really make sense to break it down per transaction. So, but just total 11 panels, you had $110 invested in them. Yep. They sold for $7,990 total sales. Total fees were $1,030.

Rob: So that's what we paid eBay is the fees for each sale.

Melissa: And then, shipping costs were $807.

Rob: $807 is what we spent on shipping. So another really, really cool part to note on this whole, this last month is, none of these were freight, guys. I did not have to throw anything on a pallet. They all went in boxes. And boxes from our ocal U-Haul is where I bought these boxes, wardrobe boxes. And, the ones that bought single panels actually had to cut down a sport utility box, and put it in there.

So I cut down a box and we shipped 'em out that way. So, killer deal though, we didn't have to do any major, huge shipments. It was in boxes and we palleted 'em to where I could do two, the, the people who bought the two and the four, I was able to put two in a box and still ship them and still get a great deal on shipping.

So another huge, huge portion of this is no freight, which I know freight scares a lot of people, but we didn't have to do that for, this last month. These were all shipping. And I think I did one UPS and the other, all the rest of 'em I did FedEx.

Melissa: Was it just cuz you found it cheaper at that one time?

Rob: UPS was a little bit cheaper. And it was closer to the house. So UPS is a lot closer for us to drop off. So that's what I did as I, but the other ones FedEx was cheaper. The other FedEx was not necessarily cheaper, but FedEx does not have a cap on insurance. And if you're listening to this and you don't know, we always say always, always, always pay for insurance.

So, UPS's cap on their insurance is $999. You can only, ensure up to a thousand dollars. In FedEx I don't think they have a cap. If they do I'm not sure what it is, but I was able to insure up to, I think it was like $3,000.

Melissa: Cuz the biggest sale was?

$2,500. Yeah. Yeah. Most $2,500. Yep. So, okay. And that was for the four panels?

Yep. So the total profit was $6,043. So.

Rob: That's awesome. We love high profits and that's what this was for sure.

Melissa: So, but the crazy part too, is we haven't listed anything since May. So this is not, we're not advocating to not list anything. We were, we wanted to list the stuff on the road. We went and sourcing for six weeks on the road, went and saw national parks, visited friends and family.

Also in the midst of that, brought home in our trailer 17 items almost $32,000. And we spent $1,400, I believe, on those items. And you wanted to get 'em listed on the road. It just didn't happen. We didn't have quite the time, you know, spaced out at friends and family to do it. And so we hadn't listed anything except for the ice machine was the only thing you listed this summer.

Rob: And I listed that on the road and it sold actually it sold one time while we were on the road and then we had to refund because we couldn't get shipped out quick enough. We refunded that one and then we actually sold it for more money after that. Which was really, really cool. So, yeah, we sold that on the road and that was the only time I listed anything on the road through the last six weeks.

Melissa: So, so now we're back to getting stuff listed. Oh, we did actually have one other sale. You had one other sale, but we were, he ended up saying it wasn't the right. He bought it, paid for it.

Rob: It was another panel. You're right.

Melissa: No, no, no, not the panel. I thought it was the oven.

Rob: Oh, yeah, we did. So two other sales, one was a panel that we sold, right as soon as we got on the road and I told him that I didn't have the ability to ship it out until we got back. That wasn't an expensive one. I think that was like $60 or $90. It was a metal panel that I bought a whole bunch of those as well. And then the other one was an oven that the, the gentleman bought it and it was he wanted it to be gas and it was not gas, but that was a $2,000, that he actually bought it, paid for it. And then wrote me and said, hey, is this gas or electric? And I mean, it's an electric. I, I even said it was tested and you could tell it wasn't gas, but.

Melissa: Usually you check that before you spend $2,000.

Rob: But he, he made a mistake on that, but no big deal, we refunded that.

Melissa: And it was the same day. Yeah. And so you didn't have it all palleted and shipped out that would've been a whole other story had it been already shipped out.

Rob: And I would've shipped and I wouldn't have taken the refund if I had already shipped it out, but we didn't do that on this one, cuz we were on the road. So, not a, not bigger deal.

Just refunded the money and no, no time wasted for sure.

Melissa: So, so that was it. It was 11 panels. That was the source of our income last month. Yep. From flipping because we haven't listed anything, but we're gonna get all the stuff in the trailer listed hopefully this week. That's right. All of our, and they were mostly appliances is what we found out that we did on the road we found on the road.

Rob: Yep.

Which at the time of this recording guys, if you are hearing this right now, we are launching a high profit appliance flipping course, super, super excited about this. And it was birthed because of, we came back and we had

Melissa: we looked in the trailer and we're like wow. That is mostly appliances.

Rob: It's $30,000 worth of appliances. And like Melissa said, 17 items total. So we're like, we really, really need to dive into this and really need to help people.

Melissa: You can get them at such a low cost, cuz people are redoing their kitchens. Their restaurants go outta business. There's all kinds of ways that you get them for so cheap.

And then if you will ship them, the sky's the limit. People are looking for them on eBay.

Rob: So, absolutely. So if you are listening to this right now, check it. You put a link in this, or, oh yeah.

Melissa: There will be a link in the show notes.

Rob: Sweet. Check it guys. If it is still possible, this is our, presale right now is going on.

And it's 50% of our normal course, 50% of this course, so you guys can get into it super, super cheap. We have that limited to the first 50 people, because this is a brand new course that we are launching.

Melissa: And it will include the freight shipping..

Rob: Freight shipping included with normal, large boxes. Yeah. Appliances can go in large boxes. They can go freight.

Melissa: Yeah, we do both.

Rob: Yeah. All different ways. So we have everything included in this course. Like I said, if you're listening to this right now, go check out the link.
