Last 2 Sales Made Us Over $2k In Profit!

Rob: What's up, Pro Flippers! On today's episode we are talking about our last two sales and more specifically how they made us over two thousand dollars in profit.

Melissa: We're gonna dive into all the numbers, the cost of the item, eBay fees, shipping costs, and of course what was the take home profit because that is the lifeblood of your business.

If you're not making profit you can't keep running your business.

Rob: All right, guys. So we are talking about these last two sales that we had. Super excited about them.

Melissa: They were the same day too.

Rob: They were, one is a multi item, sale that we did.

And then one is a single item. So, we're going to get into it kind of like Melissa said, what the profit was, all the nitty gritty, how much we paid for the items, what the eBay fees, everything was, because we love to tell you guys everything about the items that we're selling and how much money we are actually making on them.

So you can be looking for these items or you have that hope to be able to find these high profit items as well.

Melissa: And there's always good tidbits to learn along the way from each flip so we like to try to share those with you, because we just flippin love this business

Rob: We do. We do! No pun intended Sorry, let's dive in. All right, so let's do it. The first item that we sold was a concrete vibrator. What is that? I had no idea this, this even was something, but apparently it is some type of motor that has a long shaft or long, a rubber piece on it that is at the end, it's a metal piece at the very end of the rubber hose, what. I don't even know what it is to be honest with you guys, but I think they put it in concrete and it vibrates concrete, to make it, settle? Yeah, maybe it's even something you put down inside of a column. If they're pouring concrete in a column to get it to shake and get the concrete to fill in all the gaps, all the voids and that kind of stuff. So.

Melissa: The good thing is you don't have to know how everything works to sell it. You just need to know what the name is and a model number and you can look it up and post it according to that.

Rob: So that's it. So we paid $25 on this one. Cool side note: I bought a multiple other items from this guy and I got him to throw this in for $25. He had I think I bought a coffee machine. I bought two, jackhammers, like commercial jackhammers. We got some air hoses with those jackhammers and then we got this concrete vibrator, is what we got as well.

So paid $25 is what broke down to be on this one. Sold it for? Drumroll.

Melissa: $500 and $100 shipping.

Rob: $600 including shipping on it. Killer killer deal on that. What were the eBay fees on that?

Melissa: The eBay fees were $78. Ad fee was $13. So you did have

Rob: I did do promoted listing on this, which surprised me.

Melissa: Well, you probably had it listed for a little bit because you don't usually do promoted ad, do you?

Rob: No, I don't. I haven't had it promoted on a lot of stuff. So that one surprised me that I had it, but that's okay.

Melissa: $91. $91 in eBay fees. $48 to ship. $48 to ship, and then $25 into the item. Total profit on this one? $460.

Rob: $460! Guys, and this is not a big item. This is something that will fold up and go into a box. So I won't have to ship this on a pallet.

It will go into actually a decent, not huge box, and I'm actually using a lay down wardrobe box and I'm cutting it in half and pushing it together, is how I will be packaging this one up.

Melissa: Oh, I meant $435 I thought I didn't put the cost of goods in there, so.

Rob: Sorry $435, still over $400 for a flip, that is not a monster big flip, but still we made a great, great profit on this after everything was said and done.

Now the next one, or ones I should say, are these LED hardware. They're, what would you call 'em? I have one here for everybody who's watching the video 'cause I am shipping these out today, right after this podcast. But this is it, it is a hardware they actually hang from the ceiling and they have the LED, panels underneath it, and that's what they use.

So, I bought these, we have no cost into these because I bought a lot of LEDs. It was a huge lot. Had LEDs. It had I mean, screens. It had screens. It had the hardware, this, a lot of this stuff. So I probably have, um, 400 of these single units, that I bought.

I've already sold the last 12 that I sold, I sold them for $1,800. These, same price, we sold these for $1,800 with an extra $200 for shipping, is what we charged, so $2,000 total on this. But, no money into this. Everything that we spent on these, the whole lot that we bought, and we've already sold components and stuff off of it, made all of our money back, but I paid $2,500 for everything.

And so this is just icing on the cake, no money into this and we made, $2,000 including shipping on these. So a total cost for that, nothing, eBay fees were?

Melissa: Oh, sorry. eBay fees for that one was $215.

Rob: So $215, no promoted on that one, right?

Melissa: Nope.

Rob: So $215, shipping costs was?

Melissa: $100.

Rob: Okay. $100 on shipping costs and no cost of goods.

So total profit on this one? $1,685. $1,685. I love it. Amazing. Amazing. Flipping these 12 items. They will also go into a box. You can see they're not very big. They will go in a box. I'll package them up with some, bubble, bubble wrapping, and then we'll put them into a box and ship them out that way.

But killer, killer deal. I love it when I can sell these items and they have this huge markup on it. Plus these ones are just icing on the cake. Everything else I sell from that lot. We didn't have to pay anything for it, and it's all profit because we've already paid out the initial that we actually paid for it.

Melissa: And both of these were items that you had bought in lots. It is. Like, you bundled the stuff together. You can get great deals when you bundle stuff together. That's a great point. So, the one was a, was it Marketplace or Craigslist or OfferUp? OfferUp, no, this was Marketplace, yeah, Marketplace. That was, that was Marketplace, so, but you found, you went there, and you found a whole bunch of stuff to get, so you just bundled it all together.

I think we went back.

Rob: We did. He also, I got a printer out of that deal, too. A really nice printer.

Melissa: You got a lot of stuff from him.

Rob: I did, because he was cleaning out a office building, that he had all of his stuff in.

Melissa: And they wanted it gone.

Rob: That's it. They wanted out of it and they gave me amazing deals on all the stuff that they sold us.

So.

Melissa: You never know what people are going through, what they're, what they, they just need stuff gone. So, and you sold some of the stuff really quick and then some of the stuff, I don't know how long it took you to list it. So that's, that's usually sometimes people like, well, how long does it take? And it's usually not that it It's that it's not listed because that's not the fun part as much.

Rob: I have like $10,000 sitting in the other room right now, that is not listed that I have to get listed.

Cause life happens, the kids happen, soccer games, volleyball games, basketball games, all that stuff happens. But that is the beauty about this business as well, is you have the ability to work it at your own pace.

You can do whatever when you have those pockets in your day at nighttime when the kids go to bed. I have those things, to where I can work the business when I do have the time to do it. And I don't have to, I don't have somebody over top of me other than Melissa telling me to get that stuff listed. So that's really, really cool portion of the business.

Melissa: He's like, I don't have a boss for a reason. That's right. But. You have to get it listed and you know that, right?

Rob: So overall profit for these last two items that we sold, what was our overall profit?

Melissa: $2,120.

Rob: $2,120. Over $2,000, guys. We love it for profits like that and these came in in the same day.

Killer killer deal on those. Excited to get those shipped out. And yeah.

Melissa: And you didn't have a lot invested in them either. I mean, those ones are, we said were free because you already had it paid for. So, but still, if you divided that between everything, like what would you say?

Rob: $400 of these, you're talking pennies.

I'd pay pennies for these, but we already put them into the other items that we sold. So nothing on that. $25 into the other one. Not a lot of money. We love $25 into $2,000 pretty much.

Melissa: Well, one thing I wanted to add to is sometimes when I'm doing the numbers like I always add in the shipping because sometimes we do free shipping, so it's just easier. So anytime you hear us explaining any of our numbers like I always will add in the shipping to the total sale price because more than half of our items you sell with free shipping.

And so it just makes it easier just to be like that. So we sold it for this plus shipping or we sold it for this with free shipping. And then we just subtracted the shipping out of it. And then that just gives us the profit. Cause people also, we get the comment a lot on social, like, well, the buyer's supposed to pay shipping.

I'm like, well, they are paying shipping. They just, it's built into the price. So we like sometimes, and you go back and forth, like sometimes they'll pay shipping. Sometimes you'll do it with free shipping, but sometimes, sometimes people want to see free shipping. So they're like, they're like that, or then you can switch it around and do like a little bit cheaper price but with shipping and you can see what works best for you.

Rob: But that's one of our strategies. Definitely, I'll either do free shipping and I'll raise the price a little bit or I'll do $99 shipping and I'll lower the price $99. Those are the just a couple different tactics that we use in our business that other people can use as well We don't really do calculated shipping anymore.

Those are the, really the three ways you can do shipping is calculated, flat rate, or free shipping. And we really stick with those two, free and, but you just fluctuate the price to make, you don't know how people's brains work, how they work, if, they want to see a lower price overall, and then they want to see the flat rate shipping, or, you know, they, they want to see free shipping on it.

You just don't know. So we try different things on that. And it works out. It works out for both of these. We actually charged a little bit more for shipping, and then we, yeah, build in our price into it for materials and any of that other stuff as well is built into it as well.

Melissa: All right. And now it's time to get more stuff listed.

Rob: Get them listed, get these shipped out.

But this is a great time to tell you guys, both of these are going in boxes. We typically, you guys know, we do larger items. We do items that are, they go on pallets and that kind of stuff. Melissa and I were at a mastermind. We love masterminds. We love conferences. We're always doing these multiple times a year to go and learn how to better serve you guys how to better run our businesses and what we do. So we were at a mastermind and we saw these two guys presenting on stage about their business that was very similar to what we do, so after I ran up to him his name's Luke. Luke and John were the two guys that this is their business and yeah, we learned what they did.

I was super excited about it. And I said, guys, you got to come and talk about what you guys do to our audience. You got to come.

Melissa: It's a completely different spin on flipping. And so they are going to come and share what they have, like what, how they do their flipping business. And they have a really cool software they use, and they're going to show that. Sorry if I cut you off.

Rob: No, you're good. And we're going to have our kids start trying this out to see what kind of results they can get to. So we are doing a training. What? Today and if you're listening to this after this goes live, there probably will be a replay.

Melissa: Check out the link below and you can register it's a free webinar to see it, you know to check out this business model and see if it's a good fit. It's really cool So hopefully we'll see you there, on the live or maybe on the replay this week if you get there, you're listening to this after but yeah, we're really excited about it. So.

Rob: Yeah.

Don't worry. We're still doing what we do. We do what we do because we love it, makes us great money.

We'll never stop doing this, but this is another type of business or another way to do this flipping business that you're going to want to learn. You're really going to want to come and check it out. It's going to be a lot of fun. They're amazing guys. We had a great time talking to them, chatting with them, learning more about their business.

So we asked them to tell you guys more about their business as well. So, definitely check out the link below, grab your seat. We can't wait to see you guys on the training.

Melissa: See you then.
